Durango is a small city in southwestern Colorado, near the New Mexico border. The town’s name Durango comes from the Basque word “Urango” meaning “water town.” It also shares a name with Durango, Mexico which was named by Colorado Governor A.G. Hunt.
Durango is known for many things like their massive mountains, unbeatable skiing and a historic narrow gauge railroad to name a few. From winter sports to summer excursions, Durango, Colorado is the vacation destination for every kind of adventure. In the city center, Downtown Durango boasts many shops, restaurants, and museums that make for a fun weekend of exploring.
