Skyfall 2025 Recap: Rain, Wind, and One Wild Husky Named Moose

Updated: Jul 7

They say a little rain never hurt anyone—but Skyfall 2025 really put that theory to the test.

Despite the cold, wind, and just enough misty rain to thoroughly soak everyone’s socks and spirits (temporarily), our incredible runners STILL showed up, ready to run through Memorial Park like champions. Turns out, not even weather that felt like Colorado forgot it was almost May could keep this crew away.

And thank goodness they did, because National Mill Dog Rescue brought the energy (and the chaos) with an amazing crew of furry friends ready to run. We saw labradors jogging, dachshunds sitting confidently in their race strollers, and one completely unhinged husky named Moose who dragged his poor runner through half the course like it was the Iditarod. No notes, Moose. Perfect performance.

While the weather delayed some of the day’s big moments, we were thrilled (and relieved) when the clouds finally parted and gave us a little taste of sunshine. Although 2.5 hours behind schedule, we witnessed something truly historic: Colorado Springs' first-ever wingsuit demonstration jump. The crowd watched in amazement as two of our Bird's of Prey athletes, Matteo and Dan, soared through the air trailing a red smoke cloud as they performed flawlessly through the skies —only slightly behind fashionably late.

Between the wet socks, muddy paws, and adrenaline-pumping skydiving, Skyfall 2025 turned out to be everything we hoped for: messy, memorable, and filled with heart.

To everyone who joined us—thank you for braving the weather, bringing the smiles, and showing up for a day that proves joy can fly (and run) in any condition.

See you next year, and maybe bring waterproof shoes. Just in case.
